| “Basic”: of primary importance as in “basic truths” or “basic needs” Mastering, retaining and sustaining the “basics” is a fundamental skill necessary for success in any profession. In order to help our students reach their full potential, to help pass it on to future generations, we must give them the best possible foundation. This year’s WPPC addresses all the important basic elements of excellence in teaching and music making. Sessions will address teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced students. Some planned topics include: efficient practice, tone production (including examining color); improving listening, music vocabulary, style, rhythm, healthy playing, pedal, improvisation, dealing with parents, distractions, business plans, how to survive periodic income instabilities and a “Method Book Morning”: dedicated to the examination and discussion of method books. |
